In the past, Keith Pollard has hosted several of these creative NCAS events in the wood that forms part of his garden in Old Costessey. ncas returned once again to the scene of much-loved events a few years ago (1994–2002), for a new Woodworks in Keith Pollard’s woodland garden at Old Costessey.
About 16 NCAS members had one of the most memorable days of this year’s ncas calendar. Keith Pollard generously opened his house and his bountiful, wooded garden to members, who arrived laden with shared lunch contributions, an enthusiasm for creativity and a lot of bonhomie!
Keith provided delicious fruit tarts, coffee, teas, wine and soft drinks and gave us a tour of the woodland – modestly claiming that it had evolved with very little of his input. However, it transpired that he has planted nearly every tree!
The weather held fair and signs of industry were seen throughout the woodland, constructions being created both with found objects and also a few imported oddities. The dogs had a fine time and the only casualty of the day was Keith's beautiful rug that may have to endure a good scrubbing!
At about 3pm, Keith pronounced judgement and awarded Chris Heuvel a bottle of fizz for Adam’s House in Paradise. After Abbé Laugier, a huge construction well worthy of the prize. Reluctantly we began to gather up our possessions and took our leave.
Huge thanks were extended to Keith, new friendships were made and everyone agreed that Woodworks lives on and that this should not be the last ‘creative picnic!
