NCAS is pleased to organise a visit of the Corn Exchange, Diss, to see the Paula Rego Exhibition The Dog will have his Day.
The recent Tate retrospective of Paula Rego’s paintings and prints confirmed her as one of the most important international post-war artists. The Corn Hall exhibition focusses on her major print portfolios beginning with the Nursery Rhymes completed in 1989 though to the Jane Eyre series and the ‘Abortion’ etchings from the 2000s. It will also include preliminary drawings and rare unpublished work. Also on show will be a group of her tiles produced in Portugal, books based on the portfolios and postage stamps based on her Jane Eyre series. It will be a rare chance to see such a survey of her graphics.
David Case, formerly director of Marlborough Fine Art, will talk about a decade of working with Rego and publishing her prints. This will be followed by a screening of the film Secrets and Stories, a unique insight into her life and art, directed by her son Nick Willing.
