The Importance of Public Art: a talk by Martin Blackwell

Norwich BID’s mural project is one example of their aim to enliven vacant and tired spaces in the city centre with dynamic large-scale murals to the theme of City of Stories. BID asked artists, designers and illustrators to submit mural ideas that can revitalise three city centre locations. Castle House, Tesco Metro and Tickety Boo are among those that have been selected as blank canvases, waiting to be brought to life by eye-catching murals. The city centre is already home to several other murals including a 3D bookshelf, a friendly dragon, and Norwich street scenes. The Tunnel of Light, installed for Christmas, is another example of public art brought to the city by BID. Martin Blackwell is Norwich BID’s Business and Operations Manager.
