For a substantial period, my sculptures have explored our preconceptions about the nature of function and the man-made world we inhabit. I have used farm tools as surreal objects, manipulating our familiarity with them to allow us to enjoy their forms and functions in new ways. Recently I have become more interested in the development of the ‘handle’ as a figurative element, recognising the presence of the ‘head’ within the sculptures. Gradually, as I pursued this line of enquiry, I deleted the found object from my work entirely. It has been an exciting time for me.
BOB CATCHPOLE
The Bob Catchpole studio visit dates will be
rearranged when COVID-19 restrictions allow.
This is a great re-arranged opportunity to visit Bob’s studio and gallery in North Walsham to observe his practice. We have arranged for 4 groups of 5 ncas members to visit Bob’s studio over 2 days, see dates and times above. Meet in the Vicarage Street car park NR28 9DQ (opposite Bob’s studio), just before the times shown above. Please bring a face mask as you will be required to wear them on your visit, hand sanitiser will be available in Bob’s studio.
Following the morning visits and prior to the afternoon visits we suggest members visit the Gunton Arms in Thorpe Market, NR11 8TZ for lunch and to see the many artworks on display.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions we unable to book group tables for members, therefore please book individually if you wish to have lunch in the pub.
